SBA’s 3-9:

Standards Based Assessments is a state mandated assessments consisting of three tests: reading, writing, and mathematics. Students take the Standards Based Assessments in grades 3 through 10. Students have multiple opportunities to take the High School Graduation Qualifying Examination beginning in grade 10.

The Standards Based Assessments is a type of criterion-referenced test. The questions on each test are based on the Alaska Student Performance Standards in reading, writing, and mathematics. There are three types of questions in each of the three tests: multiple-choice, short constructed response, and extended constructed response.
